Input needed for new fishfinder

I am soon buying a new fishfinder. I already have a Garmin 540 but I think the sonar part of it is lacking. I only want a dedicated sonar, my radio has navigation along with my Garmin.

That being said, I am torn between the Lowrance Elite 7x, Humminbird 678c DI, and possibly the Raymarine Dragonfly.

I am trying to stay away from brand preference and get one based on performance. I want a great pic of bottom structure at 100’ and less. I like the 7" screen of the Lowrance but I hear about constant software issues with the brand. I have had Raymarine stuff before and it was tough. I have never had Humminbird before but I hear good things from trusted sources that the DI is excellent.

What do you think?

I think it comes down to how much money you are willing to spend. I have Simrad, but I hear that Garmin is coming out with some new stuff that is pretty good. Go to this websites and talk to these guys. One is Stiletto or Semperfifishing…

John

I used the downscan on my HDS7 this year at 4KI and it worked great. The elite 7 would be the same. I believe you would be happy with it. I wish I would have taken some screen shots.

Tiger do all the HDS’s take screenshots?

“you win some, you lose some…but nothing beats getting some!”

I’m not sure, I know mine will, but figuring out how to do it when im excited about seeing good structure is another matter entirely.
