What’s everyone’s preferred reel. I’ve always been partial to the old Ambassadeur reels. had several for 20+ years. looking to buy another reel and wanted to explore the options.
Ive got one of the revo inshores with the long handle and have been really happy with it.
I’m partial to the Shimano Caenan. It’s $80 and you can buy two for the price of a Curado. I use it all the time.
I’ve also had a Penn Sargus and I just could not get used to the release point on the cast with that reel. The Shimano is perfect and I can cast it a mile.

I love the Shimano Cardiff 200-400 series.
1/2 the Price of the Calcutta, bullet proof and smooth.
I have an 8 year old 400 spooled with 30#braid on MH St.Croix that is good from way up river, to the Grillage/Jetties and even the near shore wrecks. The 200 is a great little bait caster…
I have been using a couple of Calcutta 50s for years. Great reels. With a little maintenance the seem to last forever. When I need a higher retrieve ratio, the Curado is hard to beat.
