Inshore Bite This Week....

If there was ever a time to be on the water targeting redfish and big ole trout… Well, its now!

The redfish are schooled up nice and tight in their fall pattern and feeding heavily on baitfish and shrimp on the shallow flats that they call home. Oysters and feeder creeks on the flats give the redfish structure to use not only to ambush bait, but to keep flipper at bay as they are starting to target the reds. Live bait on a jig head, carolina rig, or popping cork for high water is working just fine. Artificials are my go to this time of year though. Zman minnowz and ez shrimp rigged on eye strike jig heads are my weapons of choice.

The big trout are now showing up in droves and can be easily targeted in the deeper holes and eddy’s of creeks and on the flats at higher water along with creek mouths that empty onto the flats and banks they call home. A popping cork rigged with about 2’ or so of leader (pending on depth/use more if necessary) with a Zman ez shrimp is a safe bet along with live shrimp or minnows as trailers.

So get out there if you can and have some fall fun! Tight lines!

Great post! I’m hitting the water on Sunday and can’t wait to get after’em.

Nice. I will be out there too. Hope yall have a great day and Tight Lines!

Thanks Cap.

Hoping all of the rain runoff heading your way from up here in the midlands doesn’t jack everything up. The Broad and Saluda rivers are VERY high and muddy.

Today will be epic as circumstances beyond my control kept me off the water. Have fun everyone. Bangstick i think we are ok today and tomorrow for the flow coming from the upstate. The small tides should keep things pretty good. Man I am so jealous of everyone on the water today. Already saw some top-water redfish pics from early

Hope you’re right, AP. I hope to contribute to the pictures posts in the reports section on Monday.

Well I just came from my commitment that was down by the beach. NE wind was blowing pretty good and had the water pushed up much higher than it was supposed to be which has me a little concerned about water quality for tomorrow. I may have a chance to get out for a bit myself tomorrow, but hope it goes well for you if you get out.
