Hello to those that can help.Iv been fishing steinhatchee fla for 20 plus years.came to charleston last year and fell in love.coming back this year late july.looking to go after reds and trout.Im fishing a 22 ft inshore boat.looking for any help with good spots to try.good baits and tackle for late july.and a good place to launch around mount pleasant or shems creek.and a good bait and tackle shop in the area. thanks so much
You are leaving the Trout spot of the world to fish here. Are you nuts? This has to be because the Wife wants to visit the City.No Trout Man I know ever would leave Steinhatchee EVER!!! If i lived closer that’s where I would fish. Some of the guys that fish Mt P area will help you out.July not a good time for trout in the stono.
Shem Creek landing is fine, I use it quite a bit but if you do not get there early you may have to park up in the shopping center parking lot. It has 2 ramps. and it can also be hectic getting out later in the afternoon. Plus you will probably have to dodge a lot of kayakers and paddleboards as there is a rental shop on Shem Creek. (not dissing them, I kayak, there are just quite a few at times). You may also want to give Remley Point landing a try. It is on teh other side of Hwy 17. They have more parking, 3 ramps and it would put you on the Wando for a different area to fish.
How far is Steinhatchee from Weeki Wachee? Have you ever fished the Weeki Wachee, Bayport, Hernando Beach area? I will be down there in July. Any tips for me???
I would definitley stay in FL, I grew up in Ocala and fished ceadar key, crystal river, steinhatchee, and yankee town all my life and i can not wait to get back there.
thanks guys keep the info coming.your right my wife likes charleston better than steinhatchee she says there is nothing to do there,it is just a fishing town no malls no shopping no nothing but fish camps marinas and fishing fools like me.I love it.I fish the grass flats there,is there anything like that in charleston.I also fish the back waters and creeka there.charlstons waterways seem so much bigger and more complexed than steinhatchee. Thanks for all the help
