I’m accustomed to freshwater fishing and would like to get a good fishing rod & reel for inshore fishing. Can anyone give a recommendation for a good spinning combination with a budget of $100.00?
Thanks.

Penn Battle combo will work. Check the local tackle shops for “end of season discounts”

I agree. I have 4 of the Penn Battles. If that seems to much to spend, the Fierce combos are not bad either. I purchased those for my son.

I really enjoy my Fierce reels and the new Ugly Stik rods (the ones with the one-piece guides). They are both pretty inexpensive and have given me years without any trouble at all.

Agree w Penn Battle II combo, can be had for @ $10 more than just the battle ii reel if you shop around. Looking at @ $110. Great all purpose onshore combo if you get the 2500.
I know it’s not a popular choice, and not necessarily a dedicated “saltwater” reel, but I have/had an el cheapo pflueger Trion combo. Absolutely loved mine, both rod and reel. It’s was 8-10 years old and just died earlier this year. Seized up. It lasted 8-10 years with just rinses after each use and being oiled probably 2-3 times in its life. Best $60 I ever spent on a rod and/or reel. I actually kept the rod and put a Sedona that I didn’t have a rod for on it. I’ll have to buy a few more combos soon and intend to buy pfluegers again. Hopefully ill have as good of luck this time around. May take a step up and but the President combos instead of the Trions but I’m still undecided on that.
I also have a Battle 6000 combo for some bigger stuff and, meh, its okay but I wont buy another one. I’m definitely not crazy about them like everybody else on the internets is. Maybe its just me though, I generally don’t like Penn stuff very much.
