Inshore/nearshore boat?

Hey guys I currently have a 21’ carolina skiff dlx. Its an awesome shrimping and lake boat, but i wanna be able to run a few miles off the beach. I still wanna go shrimping so I will need a casting deck on front still. Does anybody have any recommendations on a good all around boat like what i want? thanks…

Sounds like a bay boat is going to be best for you. Not many traditional center consoles have a casting deck that is going to come anywhere near comparing to what you have now. A good 20+ foot bay boat will easily get you out beyond the rocks on good days.

There’s a million different options out there but the size range you’re looking at and your budget will really help narrow it down.

what’s your budget? I love my Triton. Solid, fast and stable as heck. I can stand in one corner and the boat hardly lists. Gets fairly shallow but at 2300 lbs dry hull not as shallow as some of the other brands. It does handle well in rough water for what it is and there’s more storage compartments than I could ever use. It’s a great boat.

I’ve only got about 10 hours on it so far and that’s just been inshore but I’d take it out there in a skinny minute and will be doing it when it warms up again. Wouldn’t do it in the winter.

I used to have a Key West 196 Bay Reef w/ 140 Johnson 4 stroke.
That boat has an awesome casting deck and plenty of room for a trolling motor and storage galore.
I took it to the 60 many times, sometimes in much rougher water than I should have.
Should be lots of good deals out there.

Happy boatin’ y’all!!

I like the Bay Reefs a lot. Pioneer makes a pretty popular all around 19 footer. I like my Mckee 184 but you may be turned off from that brand since the company just closed its doors.

I have a 19’ Sea Pro bay boat that has been to the 60 many times and even 25 miles offshore on a good day. Just make sure you have a VHF radio and all your equipment in working order. A bay boat is one of the most versatile boats on the market, IMO.

i’ve got the sea pro 19 bay and have been 56 miles straight out in it. that was too far.
what you have now will do the job just fine in any sea a bay boat should be out in.
