Ok. Mom had a day off today and we decided to go out early this week. After some yard work, we loaded up the boat around noon ( peak high ). On the way to the landing, Mom said “Daggumit, I didn’t pull the steak out for dinner, we need to catch some fish for dinner.”
It’s a good thing we brought the Bonzo ice with us…
So, Mom’s hat ends up flying off the boat (it was a little windy today) and didn’t realize it until we were casting for bait. I look at Mom and say “Where’s your hat??” She begins to freak out…
We decide to ride back up the creek in search of the “lucky” hat. Ended up finding the hat with a cast net full of bait fish…
TIME TO GO FISHING!!!
We try a few docks that we like… Not much happening there. “Let’s go to the spot from last week!”
First cast…
As if that wasn’t good enough… She is a beast!
Ok, so we (she) ended up ripping line on a trout that she brought to the boat. Along with several that broke off… I’m guessing HUGE Reds.
Didn’t get a photo of the 13.5" trout… Sorry… If he was a little bit larger, it would have been on the table tonight as well.
But, we were down to our last mullet of the day… She throws out her, get this: Penn Pursuit 2000 on a 6’6" ML Berkeley rod…
Result:
29" on the ruler and after picking it up, I would say a good 10 pounds.
We brought home dinner… love it!
Penny, maybe you can offer some consolation for me as to why Mom continues to crush me while she is on the boat???
Fabulous day on the boat with Mom and she outfished me, again!
PRO TIP:
Take Mama fishing!
