Got to Remleys about 730am. Headed to our “spot” Pulled around the corner and dang it if someone isn’t there already. So we decided to come back about 150 yards and start trolling. Started throwing Pop-Rs. my buddy had a blow-up on first cast, 2nd pop but didn’t hook up. After that it was on. Landed about 10-12 trout on Pop-Rs. My first salt top-water. Biggest was about 20 inches. Sounded like someone threw a cinder block in the water. About 9am the sun got up and top-water stopped. Threw MMs on bottom. 1st cast, hook up with a 17in Red. countinued to catch my limit and my buddies limit within 5 mins. Joking, I looked at him and said…Alright, ready to go home now?..he said HELL NAW. Threw his smaller red back hoping to hook up with a 25+ to keep. Caught about 15 more keeper reds between 17-20 inches never did get his 2nd for the limit. As well, I completed my 1st Inshore Slam and hooed up with 2 flounder back to back. 1st one 2 inches short, 2nd was 14inches. After about 1130 the bite turned off for us. Headed to another “spot” but nothing but blue crabs were hitting. Caught one 6 inch that we cut up and used for bait, but only crabs were hitting them. Headed to the ramp about 1pm. Now time to clean supper.
Sorry for not having that many pix. Fishing was too fast. As soon as the MMs hit bottom a fish picked it up. Had my most successful day inshore fishing to date. 1st Inshore Slam and 1st Top-Water trout.
Thanks for the report thats not a bad day at all! Good job on the top water catch!!!
love my pop-r for spring time bass…now it’s producing for me in the salt
Nice catch man! Careful with the red sizes though, 23" is slot max!
