I was wondering if anyone had any luck trolling through the Cooper River. I was going to take the boat out to give it a try. I have never done this before and was wondering if anyone had any tips…not looking for locations…more like speed and water depth? Of even if this is the right time of year.
Delayed but not Denied!

I do pretty decent when trolling. I look for shallow water(3 ft) where there is a drop off to around 6-10 ft. I’ll troll along the grass and oysters. I have also found trolling along structure, mainly docks, holds fish as well. Once they hit, I’ll usually turn back and cast at them for a bit then start trolling again. I troll in idle. Seems to work for me, good luck!

Trolling works here in the north coast inlets for trout. I use it in sometimes in areas to find fish in areas I don’t know well or to make for easy fishing for those on the boat that might not be good at casting. If I pick up a couple, I stop and cast. I run as slow as possible while still keeping a at 1/8-1/4 oz jig off the bottom in 4-6’ of water. I just increase speed until the bait stops bouncing and try to keep the same depth. I’m no expert, but know guys who use full spreads with mirrolures and crankbaits as well.
