I am installing a 2nd battery with a Blue Sea battery selector switch. I will be placing the battery in the console about 6 feet from the engine battery and where the switch is being placed. What size battery cables would be recommended for this ? Thanks for any help.
I am also installing a 8 fuse panel inside the console that will support the VHF , AM/FM radios, Fish finder , GPS . what size duplex cable would be recommended to run from the battery switch up top the fuse panel inside the console ? Again thanks for any help…

Question 1, return question, what size engine and what size boat?
On question 2, I’d probably use either an 8 or 10 gauge for that, no smaller, depending on the total electrical load. And put a 30-50 amp breaker in line with it.
Can’t beat Blue Sea for electrical components, good stuff, it’s all I use.

Purchased some 4 ga. welding wire from ebay for the pontoon boat trolling motor. Not too bad a price.
Other than amp load , double check on insulation , be sure it’s rated
for marine under deck useage. Just sayin!!!

I buy most of my boat wiring from here. Their name might sound like a pawn shop, but they sell top quality marine wiring and components at a good price and give great service. They also have wiring size charts to match the right size wire for the application. They make custom battery cables to length, with any size or type of ends that you want on it. It only cost about $2 for each end connection, any size they need to be, and sealed with good heat shrink tubing. Well worth it to me. I just bought 10 cables from them, all custom made, different fittings on each end of each one, all were perfect. I like perfect

Thank you , I have purchased from the same online store in the past. I just ordered 25 foot of the 10/2 flat duplex wire. I also have battery cables (2’ 4AWG which is the same as the stock cables) they made for me about 6 months ago , That I will use for the 2nd battery , I am going to set the 2nd battery along side the current installed battery in the stern , If it creates to much weight on the starboard side and causes the boat to list , I will move it into the console.
