I will be able to install a kicker motor next year but need to purchase the items to go along with it, this year.
I have a 20 ’ sea hunt center console, 150 hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard. I am looking to install a Yamaha 9.9 hp 4 stroke electrical start, no trim or tilt remote start & safety kill switch
I would like to control the steering & speed of the kicker motor from the console.
This is the what I believe I need to do
-
change out the single binnacle control to a double binnical control ( expensive @ $ 500.00 )presently it has a yamaha control
-
Kicker bracket ( $ 200-300 )
-
connecting rod kit from main motor to kicker ( from $40.00 to $300.00)
4.Remote start & safety lanyard for kicker (@$130-150.00)
- 2 new cables for throttle & gear shifter
6.a new double power cable with 10 pin connectors to attach to main motor, kicker motor, and double binnacle @ $100.00)
I have many questions on this, i hate to buy the stuff and lose money.
A. the double 10 pin cable should fit the main motor and the kicker motor ,Correct? this should take care of the remote start, motor trim on the main motor & safety kill switch. On the kicker it will take care of the remote start ,remote kill switch, remote throttle, remote gear shift From I-Boats parts site it appears the new double cable is universal for all Yamaha motors.
B. My dual batteries are located on the STBD side, a swim platform on the PORT side ( wife item ) . My plan is to mount the motor on the STBD side
C. Also I am wondering if i can install the Double Binnacle Contol to the single wiring harness that is presently installed on my 150 HP 4 stroke, or i should just buy the double binnacle control & double 10 pin electrical harness , and install it that way.
Any suggestion
