Insurance rate increase this year

Switching gears from sports…but just curious…we saw a 13% increase in our health insurance rates this year. Are you guys seeing the same/higher/lower?
Of the 13%, we were told that 9pts came from Obamacare increase and 4pts was from the annual carrier increase.

Mine actually went down about $60/month, not because of obamacare, but a couple things… We used to have 3 options low-mid-high deductable, they eliminated the one we were in and somehow placed us into the low deductable plan. There is only the wife and I, we dont have an ass load of kids Dr’s appointments that are a given, so we switched to the high ded plan. Then they hired some health company to encourage employees to take better care of themselves. We had to get blood work done and fill out some surveys on our lifestyles. This was not mandatory, but if you did all of this and they “proclaimed” you healthy, you got a $30/month credit towards your healthcare plan. We opted to do it because what the hell would it hurt? The only pain in the ass is their website that you have to join and keep your status up to date. My beautiful blond is my personal IT department and does all of that bull**** for me…2015 will be a different story.

Our company held them the same this year. They are evaluating Obama Care for next year…

Although we do not have traditional health insurance anymore. Its just high deductible catastrophic coverage (12k) with an HSA savings account.

My monthly premium went down slightly, but my co-pay went up.

I had discussions with some folks in a Dave Ramsey class the other day on HSA’s. One of the guys in the class had a similar deal as you. Sounds like a lot better deal than this group insurance and high dollar “down the drain” premiums.

Your last sentence…Roger that! My wife takes care of all this insurance crap. Gives me a headache while it bores a hole through my wallet.

Man, I am telling you, we’ve had a win/win arrangement worked out between us for years…I forward the insurance emails to her, she reads all that bull****, digests all of the info, makes phone calls about plans, and then gives me the cliff notes version while I am grilling her up some supper and pouring her a glass of Pinot Noir…
