Need some advice. My previous boat, I had progressive. Sold it and have since bought another boat (Carolina Skiff 18jvx) Looking at insurance but reviews of progressive are not very good. Hit and miss with Boat Us.
any thoughts would be welcome
Boat insurance through Boat US is now handled by Geico. That’s who I have mine through. Luckily have never had to use it, so I can’t say if it’s good or not.
I’ve got state farm. Very satisfied.

I go through USAA but they don’t directly insure boats. They sub it out to Markel. Since I trust USAA and they have never done anything remotely wrong, I suspect that Markel must be OK. I’ve never had to make a claim. My insurance on a 2011 Sundance 17 foot flats boat w/ a 70 HP Yamaha is about $200/year.
Progressive. Bimini top broke off & did some damage. They came out the next day with a qoute. What they qouted was enough to cover cost & the deductible. My rate never went up either. I also use them for my camper.
Strickland.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Thank you for all your input
I am currently with Progressive but looking around. My wife was in an auto accident in May and it was the other driver’s fault (insured by Progressive) and even with a video of the accident and his pleading guilty to the ticket, Progressive says they need a statement from my wife or they figure their guy is only 60% at fault.

Travelers. Had a terrible accident in the car last year and I’ve never had an insurance company come though like they did (I also have a fleet of company vehicles and deal with fender benders from time to time, none of which have been our fault and insurance company’s can be a pain in the ass). Have everything with travelers now. I have a friend who had a travelers boat policy on a 14ft scout that got blown off his dock on the harbor and they took great care of him also. Paid out in less than 10 days to get him back running.
Long story short , if u have ur car, house and boat with the same ins co. U get better rates

Not necessarily
The Boat US with Geico I had last year for first time went up considerably it seems. No claims. Saw some bad reviews for them in the area of damage caused by engine malfunctions. Have been looking around and just got a quote from Sea Insure, seainsure.com. they were very specific about coverage for engine repairs and either replacement or agreed value, your choice. The rate was very competitive but I had never heard of these guys. Anyone have any knowledge or dealings with them?
Will get separate tow insurance probably with Boat US. Will also check Strickland since it comes fairly well recommended by ya’ll.
