well i did go out and get a kayak, attached a couple bolt eyes and cleats for an anchor, tying off, stringer, … and decided to take it for a spin at bushy park. no fish wanted to play tonight but my fun for the evening was drifting near the bank and never saw it but i could very clearly hear a not so happy boar start rustling and squealing maybe 15 yards inside the marsh grass. ive paddled a canoe through that area a few times before but definately never heard a hog that close to the bank before although im not really suprised either. anyone else hear em there and if so just outta curiosity how often?
Saw one dead on the side of the road very near the boat landing today. A friend of mine was actually telling me about seeing them there before.
Gator might have had a hold of 'em!
ha yes there are big gators that go by bushy and im sure theyd love a ham sandwich too! im sure that happens all the time but i didnt hear that much of a struggle…just sounded like it was angry at me paddling by. i also rigged up a camera mount to the front of the kayak and of course as soon as i get the camera fired up to catch an angry boar to scare my friends back home with it stops squealing. once i get a bit of action on it ill definately post pics.
I spooked about 4 in the Bushy area a couple of weeks ago. Was hearing noises and then all of a sudden they exploded in grunts and squeals. Could barely see them through the grass and brush as they scattered.

I’ve seen them around the power plant plenty of times . I work for the railroad and use to take trains out there regularly and it was nothing to see 10-15 running around and into the marsh grass . We even had a guy getting a train together one night get charged by one he had to climb up on the coal car to get away . He said he couldn’t tell where it went in the dark so he hung out on the side of the car awhile .

I always thought I heard coyotes huffing around up in there (which is still possible) but ONN has me thinking I was hearing hogs, since he was in the same place I was hearing them.
wouldnt doubt theres cotoytes there either…im sure theyd love to get ahold of a piglet. tried again this morning and only saw a raccoon playing on the bank and spooked several schools of redfish in less than a foot of water but looks like i may need a bigger stringer to tow back some pork chops
Well you know where the weapons station is. Mod yourself an RPG launcher with a nice harpoon. If you can stick two at a time and tie the rope together, you can watch them tow each other around while you munch on some jerky.
