Got to Bushy early Saturday morning and just as I approach the boat to head out I say a crab string stretched in the water. As I retrieved it there was a baby gator attached.
Cut him/it free for another day. On to fishing; got to GC and not catching nothing but numerous Rat Reds (get it Rat)and as a boat approaches and call me by name (Fat(Rat) get it now) and we talk for awhile, I noticed he was having boat problems and he called someone to come get him. I was ready to leave for the day and informed him to tie up and I’ll tow him to his destination. Even though he insist I informed him of the rule that we are not to leave a boater stranded and he also had his young daughter with him. I don’t think I would’ve slept well thinking I left them stranded and didn’t help. Back to fishing. Because of the situation I fished further up GC than I planned and HORAY!!!
Caught this BigBoy and had to BOGO it because I Had no net and too thanks to the guy with that large boat slowing down with me nearly in the middle of the river; felt because of helping him and his daughter I got to tag another one and Oh I forgot to mention the two flounders and a few small reds whom bare my tags.
Sorry for being an Author today but on with the fishing.
Beautiful sunrise with winds picking up.
Decided to deplete someone else’s region so I pushed out to the mouth of Clouter Creek and had a bunches of missed fish so I decided to push a little further and Saw StrechArmstrong coming out of shipyard creek Txt him and moved on to a good day.
. Decided to leave for the day and ran into Strech chatted for awhile and homeward bound.
I would like to thank you once again for helping me and my daughter on saturday. i must say I felt bad knowing you were pulling us in the complete opposite direction which you were going, but I am glad to see we did not entirely ruin your day of fishing. You Sir are a good man, and we would all be a lot better off with more people like you on our waterways!
Glad to see you’re on the site. Didn’t get a name at that time but your welcomed. Get that motor straight and post that great catch. Quite sure I’ll see you again in GC.

Looks like you’ve got those flounder dialed in pretty well! You bumping live bait or plastics? I’d like to get a better feel for them; I usually only catch them on accident when bumping a jerk bait or something along the bottom for reds or trout.
bryson I use a mullet swimbait(walmart), MM and Gulp shrimp/chartrusse. The gulp I’ve had more success and I do a light twitch 1,2 or 1,2,3. I’m also using a Diawa 7’ light action rod (4/6 set up with different plastics). The slightest hit I drop the tip and start pulling out line or open my bail and pull up easy to see if I still have tension on the line. Manuever the boat to not pull the hook (24V MinnKota). I’m always on the move and don’t fish the same area for more than 10 minutes but I fish the entire bank wherever I catch one I feel there’s more.
I put in on the salt side of Bushy Hi or Low tide and basically fish salt/brackish water

Well done, as usual, and good on you for doing right by Old Wooglin (as well as the gator ). Just curious, did you catch any trout to complete the slam?
“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”
Well BlackBart this was a weekend run with red on Saturday and flounder Sunday. Trouts in the upper Cooper is slow this time of year for me (meaning hot summers) but now that it’s getting cool I do well with trouts. I’m really getting my skills down with flounders and any other species of fish is okay. Man you done a heck of a job in Louisiana. We were not that fortunate last year.
