Intros and Questions

Greetings,

I am new to Charleston and would like to continue kayak fishing here. I’ve been yak fishing off and on (kids) for about three years in Rhode Island and Ohio with moderate success. I’ve heard about the marshes and inshore fisheries here and hope to scout out a few spots. I would like to know the basics of put-in and take-out here, the tides, bait, techniques etc.

Also, I would like to know if anyone goes a little further out for deeper fishing. I’ve been reading the forum since I got orders here and can’t wait to post my first report.

Thanks to the admins and enthusiast for setting up such an informative and friendly forum.

I have a red sit-in convertible tandem Wilderness System 140 with old school milk crate.

Any information would be helpful. In the meantime I will search the forum.

Tight lines,
Warrior

Welcome, I’ve been fishing charleston for years but am new to kayak fishing. We have a plethora of knowledgable fisherman in the area and most are willing to help others out. I would read through the forum for the basics and then attend a meet and fish or one of the other kayak fishing groups or events. If you have any specific questions just post your question and people will reply. Welcome to Chucktown and thanks for your service. Look forward to seeing you out there fishing.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

Call Tommy Samuels “TooBusy” on this site. Be warned: you will get addicted to the salt!

Weekend_Warrior,

welcome to the area. I could tell you where to go but it’s obvious I can’t seem to find the fish to save my live. If i had to rely on fish to live well lets just say i’d be eating the my bait… any time you’d like to hook up let me know i always game to go fishing.

Thanks,

Scott

Welcome Warrior. I started yak fishing a little over a year ago, it is addictive. I am still learning but have had moderate success. Ditto what Optiker said, call Toobusy, he’ll get you set up. Check out Toobusy’s tech tips on Youtube. Tommy has graciously shared his tips and techniques for all to use.
