IOP this morning 7-18

I have been trying to figure this inshore thing out and now that I’m newly graduated from college and can afford it, I plan to make more trips down. I’m down this week for vacation with my family and my dad and I are doing a little fishing. We got out for a few hours this morning and after catching several whiting, I managed to hook into this 30 inch red and after a pretty good fight and being wrapped around a dock post, managed to get it in! I’ve gotten lots of advice from guys on here and just want to thank the great members of this sight for all of their help! Hopefully we can get on some more before this week is over.

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Thanks! I forgot to add that the fish had 2 other lines hanging out of its mouth. We cut them off as short as we could and left the hooks to dissolve. I plan to hopefully have more reports to post before our week is over…

Congrats on two fronts! Great pic. Would be even better if you hold the fish w/o the grip.

Very nice red and conrats on finishing college. What bait and what kind of habitat? Looks like you were fishing over oysters at low tide but can’t tell for sure. I have only caught reds recently under docks.

Figured that would come up at some point lol. Used the grips for my little cousin that tagged along to get his picture with it and he wanted to use them and I just snapped one right quick before getting it back in the water.

It was on a blue crab quarter and on oyster beds about 10ft or so off of a dock. The last hour of the outgoing tide.

It’s definitely hectic when you finally get a big red into the boat and it’s picture time, esp. when it’s hot as hades and everything is wet!
I have just found over time that reds are more photogenic w/o lip candy.
Also an added bonus if you can get the top fins to stay up!
Nice work cleaning up those extra lines. Fish karma is good.

Back home now and just wanted to update on the rest of the trip. Ended up with several under slot reds and my dad caught a 29 incher on Wednesday! My dad has all the pictures as my phone is messed up at the moment but overall we had a good trip and I cant wait to come back down! Thanks to all of the members of this site for all of the help!
