iPilot Issues

Anyone have issues with their iPilot losing Spot Lock? Fished the jetties last weekend and just couldn’t get my unit to hold Spot Lock.
Obviously not a great scenario when you’re next to the rocks! It would beep and then just shut off. Batteries are brand new…Blue Top Otimaxs.

I’ve had that issue as well but in my case a new battery fixed the problem.Maybe a bad battery?

Try a new battery in the remote? I know if it loses comms it will shut down.

I should have been more specific, remote battery was causing my issue.

I replaced the battery in the remote before heading out. Called Min Kota and they said it should be related to voltage. Each battery must load test to 12.8v for the Stop Lock feature to work properly. I have an on-board charger and the batteries are brand new so I’ll need to do some further troubleshooting this weekend.

It’s a great life, if you don’t weaken…

Had to replace a curcuit board on mine one time.

YOU NEED TO TEST VOLTAGE AT TEH TROLLING MOTOR UNDER LOAD.
THERE ARE A LOT OF PLACES TO LOSE VOLTAGE BETWEEN THE BATTERY AND THE TROLLNG MOTOR.

I had the same problem last fall. I had a bad connection at the female receptacle. The positive cable was loose from 2 years of connecting /disconnecting the trolling motor plus the beating it takes on the bow of my semi-vee. Tightened it up and it works great!

Check out the brand Battery Tender trolling motor plug. Way better design than the Marinco.

The BEST plug on the market.

Period.

Rated at 100amps too I believe. Around 50$ and well worth it!

I'll second that. I had the exact same issues with mine too, and I rewired everything from the batteries to the TM, using a Battery Tender plug, and haven't had any issues since.

Having similar problems with my TM.
Spit lock won’t hold and the remote has to be close to the TM to work.
Have 2 remotes with new batteries in each one, so I don’t think the remotes are this problem.

Are you guys talking about anchor on the Ipilot?

I was having issues with mine losing spot lock. The anchor mode would just turn itself off after a few minutes. Come to find out, it was my battery. I should have known. The battery was 5 yrs. old and losing charge. Got a new deep cycle battery and problem solved.
