i havent heard anyone catching kings this year like last year… what are yalls thoughts on trolling the shipping channel with ballyhoos on sea witches, spoons, and +25 lures, in the morning. or should i just save my gas and drink beer by the pool tomorrow?
I would give it a shot before the sun and the temps got to high. I was hoping to go and troll some spoons and stick’s but don’t have a second person for my boat (safety first). My post in the fishing match up when without a taker:frowning_face:

Saw your post in the Match-up and would have loved to have went with you, but my son is in from Charlotte and he wants to dive this weekend. I guess we are headed off-shore.
RDW, never thought it would be so hard to find someone who wanted to go fishing. I am always looking to get out and need a passenger since my son moved to Calif.

start trying in the mornings to early afternoon…the kings are without a doubt a little later this year…its almost like they came early and left because we killed them for a couple days then it shut off for anything but spanish for the next couple weeks…Had one strike pulling my line in last week that was definitely a king as it nearly spooled me had to try to put extra drag with my thumb but just could not turn him(left me a mean burn though). I will be giving it a shot later this week ill let you know how we do.

in 40 feet of water, had a downrigger deployed but it hit the surface bait.

fished yesterday in 65 ft of water and didn’t catch anything but sharks. Had one bite on a surface bait close to the boat that acted like a king before he broke us off. Only fished for 2 1/2 hrs probably caught 12 sharks, mostly on the downrigger

kings prefer water temps below 77-78 degrees. find the arger schools of bait in 85-100’ and they’ll b there.
