Is Shrimping from a Dock a Waste of Time?

Curious to know … I have a dock on Wakendaw Creek that is very low at low tide but 6-8’ at high tide. Nice muddy bottom with few oyster beds. If I throw out some bait balls at high tide am I wasting my time or do I have a chance at catching a decent amount of shrimp? I wouldn’t expect to cooler out…

Thanks everyone!

in a creek that small, chances are the shrimp are in the grass at high tide.

if you happen to be on the corner of a bend in that creek where it’s a little deeper, i’d put a tag on your dock and throw a bunch of small bait balls about 2 hours into the dropping tide and keep checking it once the tide is out of the marsh.

in a creek that small, if you can’t catch them while free-casting on the bottom half of the tide, it’s probably not worth it.

Why not try and see? What do you have to loose, and hour of your time on the water?

I did it last year from a friends dock and had enough bait shrimp to last me for a while for fishing, but they were about 150-200 count shrimp, so I wouldn’t waste my time peeling them

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.
