Well, After 21.5 years of dedicated service, I’m replacing our 1989 Johnson 140 with a new-to-me 2004 Johnzuki four-stroke. Pretty pumpped.
Anyhow, my question is: Is it worth more as parts or as a whole? I never figure out my sporatic bad-running problem. But it will crank and run on the muffs fine, and it has a bunch of good parts on it. Cosmetically it’s in great shape, except for a broken skegg. 95% of use has been in fresh water.
Tilt & trim is very good, prop is a 3x13.25x20 Turbo, new coils, good starter, functional lower unit, etc… It’s certainly more work to part it, but I’m not scared if it’ll offset the cost of the new motor moreso. The fact that it isn’t running great on the water makes me a bit hesitant to see it outright.
Anybody want it?
Any and all advice is appreciated.
