Is there a new fuel coming?

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/energy/epas-new-super-fuel-could-spell-trouble-for-ethanol

I’ve cussed ethanol a many a time!

There are so many better options than corn. Why use a food source when so may non=edible things can be used with more yield?

corn ethanol buys votes and increases fuel tax income, has nothing to do with the enviorment

I’ll stick with non-ethanol for my Yamahammer.

I’ve been reading up on this stuff and if it stands a chance looks like the government won’t subsidies it unless they use corn. Even with ethanol, there are other sources that produce more yield than corn.

No problem, I wasn’t sure everyone read down far enough to catch that…

The US needs to stop using a food source to produce fuel that is destructive. Hoping this can overcome the corn lobby.

with the corn states being battle ground states in any election, don’t expect anyone to get away from corn based fuel regardless of how good it is. Even using cornstalks is a better source of bio fuel, but it doesn’t make the money for the farmers that ethanol makes, besides the fact that most alternative fuels decrease your mileage, increasing the money taken in by gallon taxed at the pump

No reason to burn corn derivatives as fuel. It still takes more energy to produce the corn based products than is those products. Corn is not a fuel. It is re-packaged coal or nuclear or hydro.

That only legitimate reason to add alcohol to our gasoline is as an oxygenator to fight smog. That part of the picture works and works well. However, you need very very little alcohol to do that trick. We used to use Methyl-tert-butyl Ether, but, it is kinda’ nasty and gets into our ground water when tanks leak. So, using ethanol as a replacement for MTBE makes sense. Using Ethanol or any other corn-based product as a fuel is idiocy. That ONLY reason it happens is a huge and powerful lobby in DC.
