Is there any shame in...

Repairing chips in the keel (daggum trailer) with Marine Tex?

I use to do all my repairs with color matched gelcoat…but now have two rugrats and just don’t have the time for the prep, set-up, wet sanding, compounding, waxing.

If it was on top-sides…sure I’d do it right. But this is on the bottom. Marine Tex okay?

As long as you don’t mind the fish laughing at you who cares?

You can even add some tint to the Marine Tex so it matches well enough that even the fishies won’t notice it.

None at all. On my first boat I repaired the cavitation plate with Marinetex on the 70 hp evinrude. That stuff works well on aluminum…who knew?

Don’t worry about it… It’ll hold as long as you follow the destructions on the box and prep the area well. We have had the exact same problem with our rig’s keel and its love hate relationship wiht the trailer.

Your trailer wouldn’t happen to be an aluminum Float On would it?
