Islamorada Trip

We just returned from a week in Islamorada. Boy was it hard to leave and come back home. The weather was gorgeous and locals said it was the best it had been in weeks. We did some fishing with moderate success but I blame myself more than the fish or the locale. We caught a few Cudas, a Trigger fish, a Mangrove snapper and quite a few what I believe were grunts. We saw 3 tarpon crusing the shallows in a mangrove lagoon and my son had a 4’er hit a Clark spoon but I believe in the excitement didn’t give the hook time to set and snatched it back too soon. After that, they got kind of spooked and never gave us another look. The water was beautiful and clear until the middle of the week and then the wind kicked up. My boat isn’t built for 4’ seas so we were relegated to the bayside. Anyway, we saw lots of sights and I just wanted to share some pics for those of you that may be considering going to the keys. Ate some great food, ran into some friends from Columbia and can’t wait to go back.

Some of the reef fish we saw. This is just a small sample of what the reefs held.

Some of the Snook we could not catch.

One of the MANY cudas we saw. This one was getting his teeth cleaned.

One of the MANY cool boats we saw. This one was really cool and the kids loved the Sasquatch on the side!

The big red boats
