Islamorada ?

Thinking about planning a trip early november. Any recommendations for lodging and charters?

Breezy Palms resort…try Bud and Mary’s for an offshore charter. Don’t know about back country, but they ould help you out with that info. The Breezy Palms is almost right next door.

Absolutely love La Jolla. Bay side MM 81 or so. You may have seen Adv. on one fishing show. Been going there for a long time now. Great folks run it, and most of those that visit are really friendly. Ask for Allen if you call or e-mail. Has a boat ramp and small boat slips. Can catch plenty of pinners right off their dock for tarpon etc…

Where ever you stay, enjoy!!

My wife and I took a “Party Boat” out of Bud and Mary’s and it was probably the single worst fishing experience I have ever had. The locals crowd to the back of the boat, and push all of the tourist (which I was) to the side. Saw them rip a trash fishes mouth off and just throw it back into the water to see it swim away defenseless, at least use it as bait. Very arrogant and wouldn’t recommend a trip of Bud and Marys to anyone. The only positive was catching enough Yellowtail to enjoy on our stay, but the locals were pulling grouper off the back of the boat. No where closer to a charter we enjoyed on the Teaser 2 out of Shem Creek kudos to those guys for running a fantastic boat.

I’ve stayed at hawks cay a little bit past islamorada. You should check it out online it was affordable and super nice. They have boats that charter out of that marina. There is a head boat out of Marathon not far from Islamorada called “The Marathon Lady” always had a good time on that boat.

My wife and I went down last year and stayed at Hawks Cay. We got hooked up with Sam “Sammy” Milazzo on the “Reel Sharp” (31’ cc, Tri 250 Yamaha’s) out of Holiday Isle Marina. He’s originally from S.C. and can flat put you on whatever you want to catch. (786.361.7646)-Sammy

-There are two types of fisherman those who fish for sport and those who fish for fish.

We stayed at Duck Key and found a house on VRBO right on the water for nothing…Fished with a guy named Brian Cone…runs the Contagious…places/wins just about every tournament down that way…he has a 33 World Cat…we learned a ton…they do a bunch of site fishing for dolphin…we did not troll all day…only people to catch dolphin based on the radio chatter…pushed in to the reef and put out the kites for sails…my 9 year old caught his first sail that day…

They have a party boat(fishing) that leaves from Robbie’s Marina. Pretty good head boat and you can feed the Tarpons like little dogs there too! Good fun place.

Jim Wilcox, at BudnMary’s for inshore, you want be sorry.

Ate lunch in Islamorada today. Go to Island Grille MM 85… If they have hogfish on hand, go for the fried hogfish sandwich. Also, if you enjoy sashimi, ask about their ahi tuna nachos. It doesn’t sound very tempting by name, but they were STUPID GOOD…

ditto on the Island Grill !! I have fished with this guy twice and will use him every time I go back.

There are lots of places to stay from motels to homes for rent if you wan’t to do it up right check out Cheeca lodge.I would not worry about the bad party boat trip someone above mentioned Bud n Marys has one of the best fleets in the keys for inshore or offshore. The Island grill skinnee is talking about is a great place to eat lunch never had anything bad there before, also check out Lor-e-lei great place on the bay with killer sunsets.Their is a place called Tasters in the winn dixie shopping center between key largo and islamorada the owner ran a restaurant downtown charleston for a few years the food is top notch best yellow tail i have ever had.if you have any kids take then to Robbies marina to feed the tarpon it is unreal.
