does anyone know the name of the island past limehouse landing in the stono? do you have to have a permit to build a fire or camp?
thanks
Me and my friends have always called it wolf island…no, at least we’ve never pulled one. Pull up and have some fun under the oaks.
be sure and pick up your trash… last time i was out there, it was f-ing disgusting. hard to believe that people go camping out there and think it’s alright to use the place as their dumping ground.
also some moron put a big trash can out there… so now people put their garbage in there and think it’s OK. really? is the garbage man going to stop by and pick it up? its an island, dip****. take away what you brought.
sorry for the rant, but it’s crap like that, that drives me up a wall.

Agreed there for sure Floater!!! The place used to be kept fairly clean by the folks who would use it, but no more it seems, last few years towards end of summer I hauled off about 400 pounds of garbadge off there. I’m sure pretty soon it will be posted and closed off due to the missuse of it by by the minority of boaters who think it’s ok to leave thier trash wherever they deem fit.
Pisses me off big time as well seeing our natural resources mistreated like that.

God is great, Beer is good, People are crazy
it’s a result of the increase in recreators frequenting the nearby “redneck riviera”. Weekends of warm weather and they are out there in droves. People being shuttled back and forth between limehouse, the sand bar and the island. They bring it out but they don’t bring it back! I hate weekend recreators!!
I agree with both Floater, RussB and sea tonic, take away what you bring it seems simple, but for some reason people think that they can just leave a mess and someone else will clean it up.
Goals achieved with little effort are seldom worthwhile or lasting.

Must be a mess of Yankees doing it.Also I bet Democraps.![]()

Yep…those Dems and Yanks certainly are anti-environment! ;o)
It’s really a shame that people can’t be respectful of both the environment and the good folks who just want to enjoy what Ma Nature provides us. Too many lazy people out there who expect someone else to pick up after their mess.

LOL…Stono…them “Democraps” are entitled don’t ya know!!!
When Barak Obama took the oath of office at the National monument…the place was left with trash all over the place…
However when Glenn Beck did his thing at the same park with mostly conservative folks there…the place was left spotless!!!

Wolf Island. We took our boys camping there a few times when they were young…had a blast…tube and fish all day then camp out…and hope the gnats and skeeters wouldnt be too bad
lots of fun and great memories…we stopped there one day a couple weeks back and there was trash and broken glass everywhere. We too picked up what we could. Theres another little island opposite way of limehouse ramp on left that we have also noticed campers every weekend. Not sure if its the owners or just frequent campers enjoying it…but hope if it is they too show a little respect and keep it clean

Back in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s it was an almost weekly campsite for my friends and I. We always just called it “sand island”. Don’t know where the “Wolf Island” came from. I would look for another place to camp. That island appears to have been totally desecrated and it is too close to the sandbar yacht club with it’s 1:1 urine to river water ratio.
