I would like to try to start heading off shore gradually. I do my share of coastal fishing and I’m starting to trust my vessel. I’ve owned it for about 8 months and haven’t had an ioda of issues with the motor in the 150 hours I’ve put on it. 5 miles off the charleston jetties is about the farthest I’ve been out. I would like to make it 15 - 20 miles. Looking to start testing the limitation. In an effort to avoid the blind leading the blind, I’m respectfully asking to go with somebody with some experience, until I can get my feet wet sort of speak. I can imagine quarterbacking this thing with our schedules and the weather could be a daunting task. So I figured I’d write this now.
A little about me. I’m going out on an 05 Trophy Sport. 22’ Cuddy/WA, 05 Merc 150 2T with about 400hrs. I’m 40 but have the capability of being 20 or 60. Meaning, if you’d like to cut up and crack jokes all day for a good laugh, I’m with it. Or if your more into just pulling the brim of your cap down and relaxing till reels start screaming. I’m with it. I can get along with just about anybody who isn’t an arrogant prick.
I’m not looking for your honey hole or secret spot. I just want to become a better boater. If you have any questions or concerns, ideas and advice, or would like to volunteer, let me know.
In closing, I may be newer to boating, but I’m not new to mechanics and common sense.
Thanks for reading ladies and gents.
Good luck, some good fishing to be had close to shore this time of year.
It just takes a while to get a weather window that cooperates with your schedule.
Good fishing to you!
