ISO Star board

I’m looking for a piece of star board I’m doing a transducer mount and don’t want to drill on the transom. So if you have a piece that is laying around let me know. I think I would need it to be a 1/2"-3/4" thick.

Thanks

What dimensions would you need?

Probably a 6"x4"

Black or white?

I’ve got some white, in 1/2" & 3/4" that I could cut that size, you can have, but I’m up near Columbia.

Let us know what you use to attach it to your transom. I have to do a transducer replacement and want to mount mine on starboard as well.

Not my favorite option, but check West Marine. They sell small pieces.

I had always heard that nothing really adheres to Starboard all that well. Has anyone successfully glued a piece of it on their transom to mount a transducer?

I like the looks of that stern pad but not wild about paying $25 for it when I have some scrap sitting around.

I have used the starboard before on a older boat. I used some sand paper to rough it up and used a ton of 5200 on it and it held in a old key west I had. My only problem that I’m running into now is running the transducer cable from the CC to the transom. I have a longer flexible pole that I was able to get in the wire tube back to the transom but can’t seem to find it. I’m working with a 2000 202 scout. Does anyone have any recommendations? The previous owner took all the electronics so I can’t pull the cable through on the old cable. Any advice would appreciated.

Also PMs and emails where sent to members with scrap star board. I’m located on James island and I usually get off work at 4. You can text me at 7572144567. So we can meet up.

Thanks again

Chad

I believe the commercial products have holes drilled in the backs that are then filled with caulk/adhesive (5200) when applied to the hull.
Holes are not drilled all the way through and are placed near the edges away from the transducer mounting screws.

This gives the 5200 more surface area to cling to and changes the plane.

I use a drain snake. Then pull through a small piece of rope or paracord or something like that to leave in there so you always have something to use. When you pull a new wire, just pull though a new piece of rope with it.

I could use a piece too if somebody can spare another piece. I’m also on James Island. Call or text me, I can come pick up any weeknight pretty much. 843-697 zero four one one

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied and also who reached out with advice in mounting the transducer

Would you mind detailing how you attached it to your transom? Did you drill holes on the side glued to the transom? Just a couple details would be appreciated. I’m replacing a transducer so…

Thanks

Dfreedom not a problem sorry it took so long. I did drill holes on the side that I used 5200 on, I drilled about 8 or 10 about 1/3 of the way through the starboard. I used a larger drill bit. I used a 4x8 piece of starboard just incase I needed to remount the transducer. And I covered that side with 5200 and placed it on the transom. Then used duct tape to hold the starboard there over night and the next day and it turned out perfect. Took the boat out this weekend and it worked perfect.
