Same concept move to the side of the anchor line and push boat up when the line comes tight to the side of the boat take a short piece of rope(monkey line) cleat end off then toss around anchor line then dog it off. This allows you security with your rope, out boards still a chance of it getting in the motor if you F up, on my boat if i do this im clear of the running gear. Ropes tight and boat moving forward keeping anchor on surface same poly ball set up as Phins clip on and it slides down rope, never going underwater to have all the extra preasure and weight. They do pop sometimes, I anchored snowie fishing one day and popped every polyball on the boat ■■■■■ happens.

I like your method. Makes sense to put the ball on after the anchor has been pulled on top. Ball doesn’t get pulled under and compressed then.
Simple improvements like that go a long way sometimes when 55 other things are going on!

No problem to bad you wont be able to try it out this weekend. I will be downtown Saturday night celebrating my birthday. Havent been in town in a while. With the wind blowing it will be a good weekend for drinking.

Happy Birthday dude!

You can still fish inshore when the wind’s blowing 40kts!

One of the funniest things I’ve done recently was pull the anchor at the grillage with a buddy who’d never seen how an anchor ball works. I didn’t have an anchor ball, but I had a 3 gal bucket with a lid. I put the line through the bucket handle and the dang thing floated the anchor without breaking the handle out of the bucket.

I told him to stan-back and watch instead of trying to pull the anchor in all that current. The look on his face was priceless as I pulled the slack line in and he saw the anchor and chain floating under the bucket.
