It might make

some of you all happy to know that I took my boat to Key West yesterday (Monday). I am having them repair some gel coat issues. It may be a while before I can get back after the striper . They will probably be gone by the time I get my boat back. That’s OK, I have had alot of fun and have ate well lately . When I get my boat back I’ll take anyone fishing that wants to go. I don’t charge much  ha ha.

Thanks for all your posts lynnmcd. I'd take your fishing anytime! Just seems like our schedules collide. Any E.T.A. on repairs?

You’re welcome! I don’t mind sharing any and all info. I have no clue when they will be done with my boat. The gelcoat issues would not keep me from using the boat, but I (my wife) think I need to cool it a bit . I gotta keep momma happy!

I never would wish you any ill will and I never meant anything I said to be an attack on you. Hope your boat has a speedy recovery. What happened with the gel coat, is it covered?

Got2Go, answers to your email.

I have mainly been fishing around the dam area. I go in deep in the corner on the hydro side of the wall and go real slow. I also go deep in the small corner by the short wall at the end of the hydros. I am trolling red headed stretch 25’s and 30’s. I have also been successful trolling the Mirrolures that are red headed. I don’t use any weight due to the fact that I have caught most of the striper on the shallowest lures (shortest lines out). Most of the fish and bait that I have been marking have been in the 10’ to 20’ range. If the fish are biting great, then I only troll 4 lines. If they are extremely slow, then I have been known to troll up to 8, yes, 8 lines. I have done this solo also. It can get interesting when you hook a strong runner . It is a sight to stand on the bow and look at the 8 line spread, especially in a turn. I usually have them staggered just right to avoid tangles. I use rod riggers to widen my spread. The rod riggers help keep lines out of each other and they put the rod tips closer to the water so I can let out a little less line to achieve the same depth. Here is a link to the rod riggers that I use.

I hope this was helpful. If I forgot something, let me know.

As far as fishing this week, Wednesday night probably would have worked. Good luck!

I can vouch that Lynns wife is a SAINT …Keep her happy brotha. Lynn has put me own some fish in the past few months and even helped my cousin from Florida catch his first 2 stripers. With my schedule I appreciate you putting me on fish the likes of which I havent caught since 26 years ago on Kerr Lake in NC! Thanks for the knowledge and your time Lynn. Greatly appreciated! May you be blessed!

Thanks Jazzed, it was my pleasure. As for my wife, I don’t know why she puts up with me. She is a true blessing. We will get to go and catch a few more. I’ll be in touch…

Got2Go,

So far, it is looking good for Thursday night as far as the weather goes. As of earlier today it is calling for SW winds @ 15 and waves 1 foot. The wall will protect you from a good portion of the wind. I have had more luck with the wind blowing strong from the SE, S & SW. Do you still have room for me? I emailed you my #, call me. Even if I can’t go, I might be able to share a little more info.

lynn, I might have to take you out on my boat this weekend. I haven’t found the striper in Murry in a couple weeks…maybe you can help

Sat might be better than friday night…going to be installing a new stereo friday afternoon on the boat.

Do you find them biting better at night or day?

I have always done better at night. I really have only fished Moultrie though. Are you coming down here to fish? I am still waiting on KW to finish my boat . During my down time I went and bought a motorcycle. The payment might put a damper on my fishing a bit [:0]. Let me know your plans. Maybe we can go and catch a few.

I live in Irmo only about 5 minutes from Lake Murray. I think this weekend might be out…I just checked the weather forecast. Weather.com says isolated showers friday and thunder showers saturday. Might not be the best weather

I wouldn’t just go by weather.com alone. They seem to be wrong more often than right (at least around here). Here is a link on the wind forecast for some lakes around you.

It doesn’t seem to be as detailed as the one for Moultrie, but it will help. Try www.accuweather.com or www.weatherbug.com. Sometimes, I just look outside and do better than all the sites. I use the Moultrie wind forecast page and about 5 other weather sites to make a decision. Of course, I have been called a die hard because I will usually fish in some of the worst weather when most people wouldn’t even think of fishing. You have to go when they are biting though . Good luck!

calling you a “diehard” is an under-statement…wind, rain, weather forcast, etc…does not slow you down…and I can tesify to that…but…I also can say we caught more fish on that trip that anyone believes…

go get them Lynn…

I second that Lynn Will Fish In ANY CONDITIONS!
