It'll Do It Again

Finally!!! The first dive trip for me this season due to weather and work and it was wonderful! Rode out around 7:30 ans stopped with the rest of the fleet to catch some bait which was scarce at best. Headed out and took a right into a decent chop (which the boat ate up accordingly) and ran to the secret spot. Spent a few minutes checking the viz and life with a gopro and after not doing much with the jigs, we went ahead and suited up. Not too much on the first dive with 15’ viz we sent up a couple flounder but saw an endagered cobia and a mess of the elusive red snapper. Second dive produced more flounder and a gag. Tried a new spot for our 3rd dive and found it full of life after scouting down much of the ledge. More flounder up, triggers everywhere (though we didn’t shoot any), and a hole full of lobster most of which unfortunately had eggs so we’ll see them again this fall I’m sure:stuck_out_tongue:. Ended day with a nice mixed box full of hogfish, triggerfish, flounder, gag, rock hind, slipper lobsters, a spiny, and even a token lionfish (just to do our part)! Seas laid down for a quick ride in…back to the hill by 5:45. Great day on the ocean with a pretty cool kid in tow who’s love of the ocean I think got a little bit greater with his trip yesterday.

very nice

We saw you all on the way out when we were getting bait. We dropped on the ledge and managed a few nice grouper and kept moving to get away from the red snapper. Mixed bag of bottom fish rounded out the day. At one point, a dead, smushed lionfish floated up near the boat and the best we can figure is that it was hooked on a chicken rig and an AJ crushed it and pulled it off the hook and then spit it out.
