Started a little late, but left the dock at 5:15am. The ride out was good with us reaching speeds over 42mph. Did not see anything worth while on the way out and decided to place lines out at 250’ with the water looking different and quite a bit of bait breaking the water. Within 15 minutes of lines out, a nice Sail jumps on. We got him to the boat for a nice release. We play around this same area and catch a dolphin and a very good wahoo, and then had another sailfish on the line for a few minutes.
Things got slow for us and everyone on the radio around us sounded bleak. We picked and ran 20 miles north to find weeds, etc. Wow, we found some scattered weed and decided to fish there. Caught 2 gaffer dolphin within a few minutes and all of the sudden the planner screams. The shaken of the head told us, Wahoo. After a long fight, the 60lb hoo was in the boat.

The birds were awful and we all had never seen anything like it! They probably swiped a dozen trolling baits and were constantly harassing our spread. The few minutes of bottom fishing, the birds would try to chase the rigs down to the bottom with the leftover ballyhoo we were using as bait.
Finished the day, 6 good dolphin, 2 wahoo, 1 sailfish, a grouper, a few triggers and BSB, a few unwanted cuda and reef donkeys were released. Many thanks to Lars, Brianh, Derek, and Patrick for great day on the water.
Nice Day Definately Im bringing my shotgun tomorrow for the birds gonna have grilled chicken fingers for lunch
You may need to carry a case of shells. We actually hooked 2 birds, catch and release, not the type of game we were after. I would have rather dealt with the grass than the birds. I hope they move out soon.
