IT'LL DO with Beeliners, BSB, and Bugs

Headed out on 6/1 for the opening of Black Sea bass fishing. We loaded the bottom rods but also loaded up the dive tanks. With the viz good, better take advantage of it. We departed the dock at 7:45 with Eric, Ed, Ben, Dana, and Donna for short trip out to the harbor for bait and then off to the fishing grounds.

The plan was to catch the limit of big BSB and then put on the dive tanks. It took a lot longer than anticipated on the BSB, but in the process we caught a good number of pinkies, beeliners, a few grunts, and triggers. The BSB were plentiful, but we were very picky and wanted the big blue knotheads.

After getting our fill of the bottom dropping, it was time to gear up for diving. The grouper proved to be very elusive in the areas on the 4 separate dives, 2 of which were experimental dives looking for new areas. We did get lucky with a couple of Cubera and 5 great bugs, found numerous slippers, but everyone of them had eggs. We left several bugs on the experimential last dive of the day located only 15 feet from the decent point. The bugs were a little difficult to get to tucked under the ledge. No worries, something to strategize over and look forward to the next time.

Great day on the ocean with a wonderful group of people. I do not think Donna ever stopped smiling the whole day on the water.

Very nice!

Nice!

Congrats sir! You are getting good with the lobster thing!

Set the trap boys, we going to pass through them again!!

Nice work Scott… Those are some nice bugs… The big knothead bass will be a lot more common in the fall when they migrate in from up north. Also, that guy is a brave man sticking his finger that close to a trigger’s mouth!

nice bugs. no hogs?

I know, been there done that! I had a queen trigger clamp down on my thumb a few years back. I screamed like a baby while trying to sling it off my finger running around the boat!

Rob,
No hog sightings yesterday.

Had a lot of fun and thanks to Scott for having our guests. Donna on the left is from Rock Hill SC and her husband is in the military and they are stationed in Washington St. She was grinning ear to ear all day just to be back on the east coast and on the water. Sometimes we forget the sacrifices the spouses and family members make while their loved ones are gone serving our country! We enjoyed her company and she kicked a__ on the BSB’S and Beeliners!

The gal on the right is Ben Ross’s wife Dana who is a saint for putting up with us.She has had me up to Rock Hill to cook for them which says a lot about my cooking!

Got to see what this storm will do so we can get out again!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

Big bugs!

Nice work!
