Been haunting this site for a couple of weeks now because my wife and I will staying on Coosaw (right at the bridge) for a week starting the 12th. We brought our canoe with us last year and played around in the Lucy Creek area with the dolphins and even found a few specks. Any suggestions or ideas for this year. We stayed at Hunting Island campgrounds for probably ten years before we found this place on Coosaw so we’re not totally unfamiliar with the area.
hmmmm…well if anyone sees a green Old Town canoe paddling around next week we’ll be waving…

Thanks Eight-on both threads-got any preference on color or size on the Cajun? Looks like it will be decent weather for awhile at least on the 10 day outlook.
get you some head on shrimp.tie you a bottom rig with your line, just a 1 oz sinker is enough.fish in 6 to 8 ft of water.i use a long shank j hook, but whatever will work, just not too big.if you fish 2 rods, put a poppin cork on the other and about 3 ft of leader, same type of hook, with head on shrimp.this will cover fish on the bottom and top.been catchin spottail and trout this way lately.not too many on artificials.

Thanks Willy. Have used live shrimp as much as possible when we’ve been there. Usually first order of business every year-relearn how to throw cast net and start catching salad for bait.
ive also been using a “flounder rig” found em in walmart figured id give it a try and it worked pretty good…its got a weight at the top then a small piece of leader then a small float then another piece of leader and a hook with a white bucktail on it…alot of drum and whiting on that…if ur just wanting some action…just hooked a small piece of frozen shrimp on it
