Just got back from Guatemala. We had some great action landing 50 sailfish including 3 on the fly and three 30lb dolphin in seven days of fishing. We fished with Capt. Mike Webb from Atlantic Beach, NC and Capt. Tom Boice who lives in Guatemala. They both have 28’ CC pangas in which we fished 3 anglers and a captain per boat, but could easily have fished 4 plus the captain. We did not raise near the number of fish that the big diesel engines did but we still had plenty of action. Their operation is different from all others down there. We did all the rigging, teasing, hooking, and wiring of the sailfish - no mates. We also ate and partied in the local Guatemalan eateries and bars in which we saw no other Americans. I fished with 2 different groups down there. Each group fished 3 full days and then had the option to fish the fourth day or go visit an active volcano or visit Antigua, one of the oldest cities in North America. The weather was close to perfect everyday in the 90s with smooth seas. The last day did get real snotty so we fished 20 minutes and then pulled up lines and went to Antigua for the day. The sailfish were very aggressive and most bites happened less than 30 feet from the boat. We raised between 5-20 fish per boat per day. Most of the fish were 60-90lbs and very acrobatic on the bite. The first sail that I got on fly was the largest of the trip, we estimated 140lbs. On the last day Chuck Griffin and I fished the fly with Capt. Mike. Chuck hooked the first fish up and then I noticed another fish so I pitched it a bait and the double-header was on! We landed both fish and we thought we were going to put up some numbers. We did not see another fish for 3 hours! Then another fish came up and I landed that one on the fly. Those were the only shots we got that day but we went 100%! Every fish except the dolphin was released in great condition. We whipped most of these sails in 15-20 minutes and they kicked off with gumption. What was so awesome about this trip is we got to learn how to do it all ourse

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

we were within 60-90 yards from the thing and it was scary how big it was and the sound it made when reentering the water!
Im glad I made it back with all my gringo organs I actually felt a lot safer than I thought I would when we went downtown. Thanks again JR – kickass trip. I cant wait to stop by that whale again.

If you can’t stand behind our soldiers, try standing in front of them.
Dog you can never be to sure. Those kidney thiefs are really hightech these days, using laser incisions so as not to leave any scarring. You should probably get an MRI, Catscan and a physical just to make sure that they didnt get one of yours.
J.R. went to Pacific Fins 2 weeks ago we did about the same.
Cantey, looks like one of those pics JR’s sportin your Tarpoon Tourney shirt.
