I repowered my key west 2300cc recently from a 225 optimax to a 300 ETEC.
Of course it is a whole new beast now.
The shop installed the motor on the third hole (from the bottom) then I had it raised to the top hole because it felt a little funny and the prop would basically never cavitate. It performs better on the top hole with a light load, but loaded down on the front deck it wont trim more than 1/4 of the gauge before I start losing performance.
On the third hole I could trim it up until it would create a rooster tail without blowing the prop. I’ve never owned a boat that would do that. Either the third or fourth hole leaves behind a lot of spray and foam. At 50mph this boat leaves almost no wake.
I’m thinking of dropping it down 1-2 holes, but I’m also considering a hydraulic jack plate.
Is the jack plate worth the money on a boat this style? What are the pro-cons of having one?
How do I know how much set back I need? I was told to go for the smallest 4 inch set back to avoid issues.

I have one of these on my boat. A jack plate will change the ride and feel of the boat for sure. The higher out of the water you go the more rpms, get better fuel ecc and top end speed. The weather is sloppy you just trim it down so you dont have any blow out and keep moving. 4 inches of set back is nothing, I would just get in touch with KW first and make sure the transom can handle it.
Intresting discussion on THT.com about the same thing some guy just put one on a boat very simillar to yours but he did it to get into a shallow canal where he lives.
did you get the G2??

You are gon’a love the E tec! I went from a 225 merc to a 250 E and doubled my fuel range. What prop are you running? What are the rpms at wot trimed out? I run this motor on two diferant boats both with a 24" set back bracket, one boat is a 20’ trihull former i/o and the other is a 23’ cc.
I have the first ETEC not the G2. I’m running the viper 20 pitch, pushing around 5600 trimmed out.
