Jackson Cuda vs Tarpon 140

I’ve seen this topic on a few other boards and figured I’d start my own here. I’ve been looking at the Jackson pretty hard for a while and I’ve heard really excellent reviews for a new boat. has anyone on here paddled the Cuda yet and how do you think they stand up against the tarpon in speed, agility, stability, price, etc? does anyone know if Jackson will have the new boats at the ECCKF? I’d like to paddle it back to back with other boats to see how it stacks up. I’m really quite interested in this boat and want to see what everyone elses reaction is.

Garrett, I’ve heard plenty of good, but haven’t seen any independent reviews. I’m sure there have to be some people out there who’ve paddled the boat not affiliated with J/K.

I have heard from a reliable kayak dealer in Myrtle that Jackson Kayak will be present at the Kayak festival. I can’t wait to get my tail in that CUDA. It looks like a fishing machine.

I’m surprised no one has chimed in with an owner’s review…I know there are a few fellas around here who have 'em.

WS Ride 135

My dealer up here called me and offered me the demo boat to take out but I have to work almost all weekend. I hope to get in it next weekend. They are also a WS dealer so I’m hoping to take both demos at the same time and compare. I really like the look of the boat but have my reservations due to mounting concerns and hull thickness. For its size its about ten lbs lighter than the tarpon. Where did they shave that weight? Ten lbs is a lot of plastic. If I don’t get into both boats by the yak fest ill def do it then. Thanks guys.

I will have my Cuda at the club event on Sunday…It is a great boat in my opinion…ScubaStan loves his as well.

I hate that I can’t make it. at the last meeting it was my wedding anniversary and this weekend is my wifes birthday. ever feel like you just can’t win? I will be coming down next weekend and I’m probably gonna call dave over at time out and see if he has a rental tarpon or a revo I can get on. I ready to make an upgrade but just unsure what I want or what fits me. now that the cuda is out it just gives me one more option.

I have a jackson kayak cuda and love it…Its super stable and is very easy to paddle…The best part of the cuda is the seat… Speed wise , the tarpon and the cuda are about the same…The only downfall for me is the price of the cuda but I was willing to pay the extra for the comfort… I would highly recommend the cuda…Its one of the best boats ive paddled…
