Jackson Cuda

Was in Richmond last weekend and had an opportunity to look at the Jackson Cuda. The 12 and 14 looked well thought out and put together. Don’t know that I would rig it like they do, but the boat setup was sweet. Supposed to be more stable to stand in than the WS Tarpon - which I had and could stand in. Probably not as fast in the paddle, but fishability looked good.
Anyone tried these out?

I have a 2013 Cuda 14 I got from Time Out last August. I’ve been happy with it. It’s not the most maneuverable yak but it’s relatively stable and extremely comfortable. I can fish all day with no back discomfort. It’s set up well too. The rocket launchers are nice and the center hatch is perfect for gear and the fish finder battery. I’ve been very happy with mine. Once you get it going, it paddles well for a big boat. I’d buy another one. If you stop by Time Out they should have one you can rent and test out. I’d offer to let you test mine but I have alot going on and don’t know when I can get out there.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

I have a Cuda 14 as well. Got mine at Time Out. Very Happy with it - can’t beat the seat for comfort.

I have the 2012 Jackson Cuda (14). This is a great fishing platform for sure. The center hatch with the insert replaced my crate. Lots of storage.

I recently just got a second kayak and I’m very happy with the Jackson Big Tuna. This kayak is a bit more stable then the Cuda. Just another suggestion.

I looked at the Cuda too, but wanted a boat I could take my boys out it in. I recently bought a Jackson Big Tuna as well. If your looking for an extremely stable kayak that accommodates both solo and tandem configurations, the Big Tuna is awesome. It is so stable I stand and fish while my four year old sleeps in the front seat.

thanks for all the ■■■■■■■■. I have had the Tarpon 120 and 140 - loved them both and a Native 145 tandem. The Cuda seems to have incorporated the best of both of those boats into one. Love the seat in the cuda - similar to the Native and the layout looks to be very functional like the tarpon. My Tarpons were great, but the premolded areas didnt accommodiate coolers well at all. You have to be very creative (not a bad thing) to get the layout to meet your needs. The Cuda had a larger cooler mold. I also hear that Jackson is going to start making rotomolded coolers - maybe they will make one to fit the cuda’s.

thanks for the offer. I am in Lexington, so connecting may be problematic. There is a Jackson dealer here in Columbia. I may stop in and see what he has. thanks again, very generous.

Come and Demo one of our 14FT Stealth’s or X-factors if you want a stable stand up fishing Kayak

I had a 2012 Cuda that i fished for about a year and really liked. As u mentioned, well thought out and very fishable. I also found the seat to be very comfortable and had no trouble standing- quite stable. There were a few upgrades made to the 2013 model that i think really improved the utility and durability of the yak, so if possible, i would recommend trying to find get the newer model. Not the cheapest yak out there, but i think its still a pretty good value considering what all u get for your coin.
