Have heard of reports of good bass fishing in the ponds here. I located 3 separate ponds and gave efforts at all of them, to no avail. Any recommendations? Tried plastics, topwater, spinners, frogs, rats, everything over 2 different days.
I’ve been killing the pond bass on a pumpkin/tan jig with a brown/red flake chunk trailer
But, is this at the county park ponds?
Haha no I’ve never tried those myself, just mentioning a pattern that’s been working with me.
If I remember right though, those ponds are a lot muddier than where I’ve been fishing so that color might not work
They see a lot of fishing pressure so minnows on a jig with flouro carbon and you will get them. I fished mud minnows like this at I think its the Wappo shelter pond “its tiny” and caught a lot of small bass that where like a pound and a few big bream. There are/were some some big catfish by splash zone that live under the deck and around the bridge, but I haven’t fished the county park in a couple of years. When I was walking my dogs I saw some bass around the narrow part of the pond behind the water fountain by the big toy mostly small but there was one that was like 3 pounds lurking, maybe try a small bass pattern bait for the bigger ones because they stock those ponds with little bass and I’m sure they feed on those little guys.
Gonna try a few more ponds over next few days. Mainly throwing crawfish style jigs knowing hatch soon as well as small blue gill color pattern rattle traps.
