January 5th, Offshore

Need to run some fuel out of the boat and it looks like Saturday may just be the day to do it. Has anyone had any recent success with the blackfin/wahoo? PM if you don’t want to broadcast it over the interweb. Also would like to know if anyone else plans to be out there. Its always good to have a few boats around when the water cools off… Hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed the holidays!

i was wondering the same thing and i may give it a shot…

“Yeah i fish offshore and yes i turn my VHF down sometimes,i know that makes me a bad person…”

If I did not have to work I would be heading toward the edisto bank. No clear sst shot today buy it looked like a decent break over there. Good luck if you go.

I’ve heard from several people that the junk tuners are everywhere right now. May troll early and live-bridle a few for giggles and if nothings going work back in for the triggers and porgies.

I’m going to try to make it out. The sailfish bite is hot right now 2 miles off the beach here…

I don’t have any reports as I am pretty new to the area. I sure there has to be a hoo or two in that break. If you go a report would be nice as I plan on trying to get out a couple of times this month.

Bought, yes... Used... No... Maybe this weekend.

Woke up at 4am to de-ice the boat and drink some coffee. Not a breath of wind at the house. We were loaded and through the jetties in time to watch a gorgeous sunrise. 10 miles later the wind was hauling a solid 15knts from the NE and the seas were stacked about 3 seconds apart. It was slightly deceiving as we were rolling with a following sea towards the GTH. I stopped a couple of times to assess the water and decided it just wasn’t worth it. That 50 degree water is no joke and Ill choose to fish another day. Made it back to the house by 830 and we were sitting at Garden City Pancake house by 9. Not a terrible day after all! Hopefully another day will present itself here in the next week or two. Until then…

Used the kite this weekend. No bites… Fishing sucked. Must have seen at least 60-70 other boats doing the same thing. Never saw a fish jump all day or heard of any caught on the radio. I think that the bite moved back up to the north a few miles. Need another front to push them back down.

Thanks for the info. I saw the weather man got the morning weather wrong and was wondering if anyone push though it. Always better to be safe and try a different day. Hopefully there will be a day soon.

Talked to a buddy this morning who kite fished Palm Beach this past weekend and ended with 18 sails. Not sure where that is in relation to you or if that even helps but I figured I would pass the info along…

2 miles, you better make sure you top off those fuel tanks.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

They must have been to the north. We were about 4-5 miles south of Palm Beach and had eyes on about 50 other boats. Never saw a fish jump all day...

Skinnee i might have to say you are getting spoiled… that extra 4-5miles isn’t even out the harbor from dolphin cove…

Skinnee my dad is in Jupiter and said the fishing has sucked all week and he is tuned in. Was going to come down this weekend but its too hot for a good sail bite. Big cold front might be coming mid next week.

I hear people say on the radio that they are coming back in to get lunch and then resuming fishing in the afternoon!

I hope so. The weekend before there was a front and the fishing was good for a couple of days, but we were out of town. Amazing how fast it can turn on and off... Waiting for another push of fish...
