January Redfish Report

The weather lately has made for some fantastic redfish bites. The redfish have been schooled up and happy, working the flats for their winter snacks. It’s also the time of year I bust out the 20’ aluminum bass/flats boat to attack the shallows.
Mullet and mud minnows have been the bait of choice, but shrimp (live or frozen) have been good as well. When fishing around structure such as docks or piling a, having some shrimp out there has been paying off for some nice black drum too. For artificial, this is the time of year I size down the selection and slow down the presentation. The slim swimz from ZMan have been a favorite as well as the shrimpz. When selecting a weight and hook size, I will tone it down as well. Using just enough weight to get by. I’ve really been pleased and seen great success from the Texas Style Eye Strike jigs. Be sure to get out and enjoy a great day of Charleston Fishing in the winter. It doesn’t get any better in the backwaters. Tight lines.

Good deal

XPRESS makes a HELL OF A BOAT, that’s ideal for that style of fishing. Nice work!

Thanks for the report Capt. Good stuff.

I love my Xpress 18’ bay series, great boat for inshore here.
