Jason@KrakenWiring Introduction

I would like to introduce myself to the CharlestonFishing.com community. I am not new to this forum and in fact I have received a lot of very helpful information over the years. So I would like to say thank you for this great resource and to all of the members who participate. I feel like it is my turn to pay it back so this is my first post. I want to follow the rules so please guide me until I get the feel of it. My interests are offshore fishing (15 years experience) Diving/spearfishing (14 years experience) and hunting. I currently own a 29’ Regulator that stays in my slip on Wadmalaw Island SC. I also own a small business called Kraken Wiring where we manufacture LED lighting and wiring harnesses designed specifically for saltwater boat trailers. I would like to offer my assistance by replying to questions on this forum and hopefully help someone spend more time on the water and be more successful while you are out there.

Welcome aboard! Just found your website. I must say the intentions and ideas are awesome! I didn’t look long though after I saw the prices. The price seems brutal for trailer lights. Especially for weekend warriors such as myself. Are they guaranteed for life? Are any trailer manufacturers using them as an upgrade option yet?

I’ll go read more on your site when I have a chance.

$50 isnt too much for a quality set of submersible lights. i think the last ones i bought from norther tool were $40. if i lived closer to charleston, i would definitely spend the extra $10 to buy a quality product, especially from a local business.

Where did you see 50?

I know this is more than just lights, but dang… is it because of the o-ring type sealed wiring? I know a NMEA2k cable isn’t cheap either.

And I am asking these things legitimately. I’m not trying to give you a hard time here.

Hi Stump,

No problem man. I understand. Yes, all of our lights are Lifetime warranty LEDs. Once you replace your harness and lights you shouldn’t ever have to again. https://krakenwiring.com/blogs/news/the-real-submersible-not-all-led-lights-are-the-same

Currently we are online sales only. If everything goes as expected our system will be available with a select few manufacturers and service centers in the near future.

The prices you are asking about are for the entire system. No splicing, no wiring required. All plug and play, IP68 rated waterproof connections, heavy duty marine grade jacketed wire; stainless steel hardware; single point ground and they include sonic welded/potted circuitry/lifetime leds. I am happy you are asking and even happier to help in anyway I can. I also understand there are folks that want to DIY their trailer wiring and lights. Our plug and play system will at least cut the installation time in half and doesn’t require the installer to understand wiring.

I couldn’t ask for a better reply! I like where you’re headed with these lights. Thanks for the information.

this is what i was referring to with the $50 lights

Jason, i sent your website over to a couple of the businesses here in the columbia area that rebuild boat trailers. it’s not a huge possibility that they will end up using these since its mostly fresh water boat use up here, but ya never know.

Yessir, I finally had some time to click around on there.

Welcome Jason! Finally! A set of lights that will hold up! I agree with your assessment on problem space with trailer lights. I have a new boat/trailer thats one year old and the brake lights are already failing…The lights themselves that is. I replaced the connections with Deutsch connectors anticipating the replacement of the brake lights. Do you plan to offer a version with a Deutsch connector?

I really appreciate that Mechanic! Like you said you never know. I now a few guy in Columbia that tow their boats down to fish saltwater so I’m sure there are folks in your area that need a better trailer lighting system. Please let me know if I can help in anyway.

Hi Mark, We are not planning on using the Deutsch connectors as an option for our standard trailer wiring and lighting kits. Our connectors are IP68 rated and used in underwater lighting applications so we plan to stick with those. However we do custom wiring harness kits. I could make a set of our LED tail lights with Deutsch connectors. PM me if you are interested.

ltid, Thank you and good question. We supply a junction box with the 7 round vehicle connector. Its color coded and labeled so you simply match the wires from the EOH system to the correct terminals.

ltid, I also wanted to mention that we can include a weather pack connector pigtail attached to the junction box. I know some of the EOH systems have plug and play weather pack connectors. This would allow you to just plug in and go. Thanks again.

Installation was a breeze and the light is well engineered for long life! Just need to add some salt! Lol!
