I’m thinking about doing this. Where is everyone staying? Be nice to have all the Charleston people at the same hotel.

I’ll be at the Hilton Garden Inn (Tinseltown) Friday night and at Sawgrass Saturday night. I think there are only 11 “Mac Daddy” captain’s bags left. Get signed up ASAP.

I have not figured out the hotel yet, but I think i want to stay near where Captains meeting is. I’m pretty sure I know where I’m fishing, but we’ll see how this weekend goes. Does anyone know if Guana lake will be deep enough for a Hobie Mirage to work or will I be poling/paddling

Depends on when the last draw down was. If you can Paddle the channel from SML out to the main channel it will get deeper as you head South. If the Channel looks iffy, launch from the dam and head North. Most of my best fishing there came from around the observation tower so its about the same distance either way. Also, SML has very limited parking and they do not allow parking on the sides of A1A. The river side of the dam is very muddy at low tide! Beware of the gators and the crowds; Guana is typically very busy on Tournament Day!

Thanks for the heads up. Gators I can deal with, but I don’t like crowds! I have to imagine with 400-500 participants you can’t expect to have much water to yourself.

If I were fishing it I would be thinking North or South of the main part of Jax. Fernandina/Amelia Island area, A1A/Heckshire North, Ft George Island, backside of Talbot, Pumpkin Hill and Grady Bridge heading North. Kayak Amelia is a good launch but might get busy.

Pretty sure I’m going. Was thinking of Guana lake, as well.

Just heard that the Spring drawdown at Guana started this week and the north end is pretty skinny.
If you are fishing the lake, launch at the dam.
