Went out yesterday, met by a confused sea all day. Got beat around on way home but all in all nice day. Went to commanche and couldn’t get a bite, went to Y-73 and couldn’t get a bite, finally went near some subway cars and drifted a bit and found some good live bottom. Put 3 big triggers, 1 porgie, 1 unknown, 1 keeper ARS and 2 throwbacks (my first Red Snapper in the Atlantic and 1st on my boat, I was stoked!), and 5-10 BIG BSB all 16-18" in the boat. Decided to head back towards the hill and stopped at a buddies BSB honey hole about 14 miles out. Finished off filling the cooler then. Wind picked up, seas really stirred up and we left 2 shy of our 45 limit. Left there at 6:30 pm (rough ride in for my 20’ boat), back in columbia at 10:30, in bed at 1:15 a.m. Very nice day and had a great time with friends. 1 thing I found out is I still got A LOT to learn about offshore fishing in Charleston!

18" is a nice BSB. Good report!

Pflueger Reelman,

Congrats on the nice cooler. I’m leaving from Cola in a few hours to spend the weekend in Charleston. I’m planning on going offshore on Sunday. Did you try any trolling at Comanche or were you strictly bottom fishing?
Thanks for the report!

Got a little bumpy in the PM for us too, but you don’t know unless you go. Congrats on gettin’ some groceries.

No trolling. Going to start pulling for kings in Late May/Early June. After yesterday, I’m thinking about making BSB trips and being back in town by 2:00. We pulled them up fast at the 14 mile spot. Wind was blowing a constant 15 mph so we drifted 1/4 miles within 2 drops

anybody notice the cooler with the markings on it…lol…we all have seen this cooler before now haven’t we…

Yea, I thought I recognized the boat. He seems to have calmed down a bit. Give him another chance. It has been kind of stale around here anyway.

Didn’t pay any attention to the cooler, but the Mariner kinda stood-out.

Phin style Pro-tip: Wrap the leader around the reel then back onto an eye. This will put the weight on the grip or the rod and prevent future occurrences.

Yep…I heard an “uh oh” then turned around…I wasn’t too happy. First the Penn 330 GTI so replaced the reel now the rod.
