jazzed, My Distraction, his friend Rick and I decided that we would make a bluewater trip on the Jazzed in search of some tasty bottom dwellers and hopefully some wahoo. The Jazzed is Captain Ronnie’s new 24’ Triton series Seahunt. This would be its second trip out deep, and prove to have a little better result than the last.
We tried to catch some b-liners well before sunrise at a spot around 100’ deep with no luck. We moved on out to around 120’ and had our 4 man limit of them in no time at all. Next on our schedule was to head on out to the ledge and pull some lures as the sun was staring to rise. We did that for roughly two to three hours with only one hit that produced a screaming reel until the hook pulled!
We then decided to set up shop on the ledge and try for some brown fish and trigger, etc. We fished between 150’ and 200’. As soon as the first live bait hit the bottom I had a good but short fight on my hands. It was pulling straight down and I was not gaining much. Ended up popping my 130# leader.
Oh well, that’s fishin’. Put another live one down and wasn’t long before the Jazzed had its first brown fish on board. We only ended up with 3 of them for the trip, though. We would get a trigger here and there during the day. Never really had a consistent trigger bite. I think we ended up with only 16 or 17 triggas. We didn’t even see a pinky until mid day. Once we found them, we couldn’t quit catching them. Some sharks and cudas that were around enjoyed taking some pinkies for themselves right under the boat. They also enjoyed some of the jolt heads we were bringing up as well.
Of course, the live baits produced some sharks and a bunch of grown AJs. I had no problem sharing the live bait rod, especially when it had a fish on that was running sideways that was sure to be an AJ or a shark!![]()

It was a fun trip! We all got to catch some fishies and made it back safely! The Jazzed handled the Lake Moultrie type seas like a boss!![]()

12 pinkies
