jellyfish

are they bad in the rivers yet? Too bad to swim? Kids want to go, but heard they are getting bad.
thanks,

B.O.A.T. Bust Out Another Thousand!

Daughter and her friend got a couple of stings last year at Edisto, but I’ve not heard of anyone getting stung lately. Funny thing for me, I’ve never been stung once in S.C. by a jellyfish. I used to spend many hours swimming in our coastal waters and still spend some. Only time was some itty bitty ones in the Bahamas that got me while snorkeling.

Apparently IOP was covered up in them the other day…

Good gracious! 213 stings in one day, at one beach?

They picture a harmless cannonball jelly -

Nature boy, look again. Tentacles (sp?) are gone, but that looks like the real thing. Pretty sure it’s not a cannonball.

Your spelling was good. I expanded the photo - its a cannonball. They turn clear when they die out of the water. They don’t have much in the way of tentacles. A man of war is a pretty blue color, and small, but incredibly painful.
