Jerky Gun

Getting ready for backpack and hunting season and replaced my old plastic jerky gun with the Cabelas jerky pistol and it really works well. Multiple attachments, loading funnel, cleaning brushes and made really well. On sale at Greenville store for $25. You won’t be disappointed. However, Nesco sill makes my favorite “premixed cure”.

I’ve had the nesco gun for about 20 years, still works great. That Cabelas gun looks like a big improvement.

You can’t beat using the burger for quickness. Last year I used two deer (minus loins) and cut in small strips and soaked in the Eastman Original seasoning and cure using red wine and water to make it a liquid along with some extra garlic, onion powder, and red pepper. I let it sit in the refrigerator for two days before putting on the dehydrator. Tedious job, but well worth it.

Here’s a link to the Eastman seasoning, I also like to mix the Wiskey pepper and Hickory together. I bought a small scale and weigh it to amount of cure, if not you can get it too salty.
