Jet Ski Yankee Fishing Debate HERE!

This is a fairly provocative post isn’t it…Valid meaning “legal”, or the actions of most jet ski operators being “acceptable” to other fishermen and boaters? In my opinion it’s the quick throttle and maneuverability that gives most jet ski riders a false sense of the crafts true limits around other boats. I’ve never had another boat of any sort try to jump my wake only a few feet off my transom, nor try to cut me off while ignoring all regulations set forth by the DNR on South Carolina waters!! I had my left foot cut nearly off in a jet ski accident, by being blind sided by another skier. Both ski’s sank and luckily no one was killed. So I guess you could say my opinion is calloused, but I bet others might agree.

Yeah, plenty of things in common. Love our families. Love to fish. Love this forum. Occasionally jump in fully fired up but half-informed. Good fighters. Great lovers. Etc., etc.

I hear you. Heading to the beach to surf with the wife, my sister, and her kids. They actually live in Chapin. We just spent a long weekend all camping at Dreher Island, skurfing all over Lake Murray. On our last morning there a school of about 20 huge bass came right up to the bank chasing minnows while we were eating breakfast. Really a beautiful campground.

If the dude can afford a jet dock and a boat fishing in the HIBT then he could afford hiring a guide instead of coming here and asking questions.

lots of people taking the bait on this one.

Here is a quick synopsis regarding this thread.

I don’t like jet skis. Any of them. Fish them if you wish, but I still won’t like them.

I don’t like idiots or assholes. I don’t care where they are from.

If you don’t like your surroundings (this forum) …leave. It is still your option.

If you don’t like your surroundings (the south)…leave.

If I were up North, I would…LEAVE. This is because I would not like my surroundings.

It is pretty simple actually, and I am surprised that you alls have said the same thing for 4 pgs now.

Move on to being productive, not unproductive.

The problem with jet skis is that most people rent them once or twice. They are not wise the rules of the water and the fact that a jetski doesn’t have brakes and can only be controlled by using the throttle many collisions and fatalities occur each year when folks lose control of them and let off the throttle causing them to collide with whatever is in front of them. Many people are also killed on an annual basis when a ski lands on top of or collides with another. Probably the biggest problem of all is that most of the insurance companies that “insure” jet skis are very shady and based in places like Jamaica or worse and don’t even respond to claims. I was involved in a case where a swimmer was run over by a jetski on the waterway in Myrtle. The Insurer never even appeared on behalf of the insured.
