What are you guys using at the jetties targeting reds? I have been doing okay on cut mullet, usually catching one or two per trip. Wondering if anyone has had more success on live menhaden or live crabs.
Any of those will work, some better than others at times… pretty much just ‘run what you brung’ and if you have multiple baits try all of them and see which produces that trip. If you’re working with only one type, or multiple, still give yourself options like using heads, chunks, filets, live, live with the tail cut… you’re getting the picture now. Good luck and post up your success!
Also, quartered crab is like candy to them…

As redfish get larger, they typically turn more towards fish as their main diet. I typically use chunks of shad, mullet or cut menhaden and that seems to work well for me. I have used chunk blue crab and caught a nearly 10# sheep that was stripping drag like a bull red. That was quite a surprise but probably not common. The sharks are THICK right now so most cut baits will attract them as well. Have to take the good with the bad, but catching is better than fishing.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have used all of the above at different times but mainly wondering what people were having success with recently. Trying to get out there in the next few days. Thanks.
My favorite lately has been live finger mullet with a clipped tail, just enough to bleed. Action+Scent=Whallop
