Jetties Sheeps

Need A smarty britches. Heading to sheep head fish Monday-shrimped out! I want to know if you can use a treble hook on fiddlers? Is it legal?

Thanks ahead!

No hook restrictions for sheeps in federal waters either.

Did you go? I did. It was well worth it too.

Do most of you use treble hooks to sheep head fish if so what size I never have any luck can’t ever stick them

You don’t need trebbles for sheeps. We use small 1\O circles and works just fine. Strong hooks are a must. Owner makes good stuff. Patience and practice pays dividends.

How do you rig for sheep’s and how much weight?

Main line to 20 lb flouro leader, then sinker, then hook at the bottom. I use the least amount of weight as possible to stay vertical fishing with the current and feel the sensitive bite. Typically inshore, I use anywhere from 1/4 to an ounce. Offshore, I try to stay at 2 oz or less, but that’s hard to do in most cases.
